The young, ginger tom had no idea how far away from camp he had wandered, nor did he know exactly where he was. It wasn't like he was worried about either thing, anyway. Cedarkit was more concerned with the mouse he had followed out into the den. His mind transformed the old badger set into a cavern high in the mountains, with the mouse now a small fox. He licked his lips eagerly as he padded foward slowly.
Unfortunately for him, he wasn't very quiet; the mouse heard the sound of his tail flicking the leaves around and shot past him. "Aww..." he exclaimed as it fled. "That fox would've been tasty..." The tom sat back down, suddenly curious. "Huh. What does fox taste like, anyway?"

Echogaze "Assuming you're thinking of the mouse you just chased away, same as any prey. Can you make up an excuse as to why you're away from camp?" the small tabby mewed, looking at the curious kit with calculating eyes. He stepped away from his just-burried prey and walked over to him. "And fox tastes about the same too. You're Cedarkit, correct?" Assuming, since he was the only kit in LightningClan, Echogaze sat in front of him. "Perhaps no one knows you're gone yet, and if they do you'll be in a mess."

Cedarkit turned, curious, when he heard another voice behind him. "I didn't know I had gone too far," he mewed honestly. "I... I'm Cedarkit," he confirmed, trembling slightly. "I hadn't mean to... I just wanted to help... the fox... it could've... wait, you've tasted fox?" the little cat meowed suddenly. His little eyes gleamed with excitement. "How cool!"

Echogaze Echogaze shook his head in amazement at the kit's enthusiasm. "It's fine. I won't tell a soul." He gave the kit the best grin he could and stood up to his full height. "The 'fox' ran away, but there's another one around somewhere, I assure you. If I were you I'd stop using my imagination long enough to tell where you are. Have you any idea how to get back?" His usual demeanor faded around the small tom. Guess I shouldn't be talking about small... he mused to himself, thinking of his own punsy height.

Cedarkit looked down at his paws and scuffled them about shyly. "No..." he meowed quietly. "I... don't know... how to get back..." He started to look back up at Echogaze, but something caught his eye. "Look! A fox! A fox!" He chirped excitedly, gaze focused on another mouse. He crouched down again and crawled foward quickly. This mouse heard him, but wasn't as quick as the one before; the young tom was able to pin it down by its tail, but now stared blankly at it. "Er... now what...?" he wondered aloud.

Echogaze The tom looked at the confused kit before killing the mouse- erm, 'fox'- quickly. "That," he mewed. "Give me a bit and I'll show you back, okay? Keep that... fox." Echogaze made sure the kit wouldn't run off again before he grabbed his just-burried prey. "It's okay to run off once in a while so long as you don't get caught," he mumbled, gesturing with his head for the ginger cat to follow him the way back to camp. He was disappointed to cut his hunting short, but gladly took the small kit back to their camp. There was enough prey he caught earlier for today. "Careful where you're stepping."

"M'kay!" the little tom replied, trying to pick up the mou... fox... that Echogaze just killed in his jaws. He just managed to get a good grip on it when the warrior returned with his catches. Cedarkit followed the older tom as they headed back to camp, trying hard not to drop his catch. "I can't wait 'till I get bigger!" he meowed, his voice slightly muffled by the fur. "Then I can go out as much as I want!"

Echogaze He chucked quietly. "That's not the only thing you have to worry about," he mewed. "Be aware next time, that way you can get back if you happen to be alone." Even though he was young for a warrior, and remembered his kithood fairly well, Echogaze never remembered playing pretend as Cedarkit was doing. Maybe pretending his sister was dead... Still, the kit looked like he was having fun, and the warrior wasn't going to deny him that pleasure. "Maybe next time someone will bring a... fox to you. That way you can hunt it easier."

"M'kay," Cedarkit mewed again, only half paying attention. His kitten blue eyes were focused on a butterfly floating about nearby. He started padding after it, before Echogaze told him to look about in case he got lost again. He trotted back behind the older warrior, walking in silence for a moment before lighting up. "Would you do that... Echogaze?" he asked eagerly, pausing for a moment while he tried to remember the warrior's name. "Would you really bring back a fox? That would... feed a lotta cats, wouldn't it?"

Echogaze "I was talking about one of your mouse friends but I suppose if the occasion arises I should bring it back." He nodded. "It would feed a lot of cats, yes. What're you planning to do when you grow up?" he mewed, simply for conversation's sake. He usually didn't talk to many cats, let alone kits. Being busy most of the time he didn't want to trouble himself with friends, but he could at least try.

"I'm not really sure," Cedarkit mewed. He put down his mouse and sat down, panting slightly. Then he looked up. "I guess I want to be a warrior. Having lots of real battles and getting to go out whenever you want... never being cooped up in camp... " he sighed slightly, looking up at the sky as he dreamed. He saw himself leader of a Clan, leading cats into battle against bloodthirsty foxes. The ginger tom purred as he mentally fought off fox after mangy fox, fighting as the hero of all of LightningClan!
He snapped out of his daydream when an unfamiliar smell wafted towards him. "What's that?" he meowed, sniffing. "It smells nasty..."

Echogaze Echogaze was stiff, glaring around them in a protective manner. "That smell means you need to head back to the camp, now," he warned, dropping his prey and looking at the winded kit. "Can you run a bit longer? We're almost there." Hesitant to do anything to rash at the disgusting scent, but worrying about the kit, he gave him a nudge on the shoulder with his nose. "I promise." He doubted that the kit could run while panting like that, but he wanted Cedarkit back at the camp where he was safe.

((Will assume this is alright unless somebody corrects meh. ^^))
"What is it? What's wrong?" Cedarkit looked up at Echogaze with wide eyes. He gave a small meow when the warrior nudged his shoulder, beginning to run when he remembered his mouse. He went back to fetch it, coming face to face with a growling fox. The ginger tom backed up slowly, shivering in terror.

Echogaze Echogaze growled and grabbed the small kit by the scruff of it's neck. Caring about only the safety of the kit, he raced back to the camp. There was no question about the fox following. It probably grabbed the prey he dropped but he didn't care. Better prey than kit, he thought to himself, putting the skidding to a stop at the front of the nursery. "You stay here. Safe," he mewed, slightly out of breath as he put the ginger tom down. He pushed the kit more into the den.

((Shall we continue this thread elsewhere? We're back at camp.))
Cedarkit squeaked as Echogaze picked him up and ran off with him. He didn't say or do anything until the warrior pushed him into the nursery. "OhmySkyClandidyouseethatfoxitwassoBIG!" He exclaimed in a rush. His heart was racing, but he wasn't scared anymore. He was excited beyond his belief; face to face with a real FOX!
