-Owlgaze-
Owlgaze padded slowly into the center of camp, yawning and stretching his limbs. Never before had the tom been so thankful he didn't have to go out on dawn patrol as today; he had needed that rest more than anything after worrying about Snowstorm acting so strangely. Pushing the thought from his mind, he took a few more steps forward before sitting down, letting the sun beat down on his fur. Thus far, Owlgaze hadn't been given any work for today, and as he didn't have an apprentice, he could do what he chose.
If in the next few moments, Owlgaze decided, he was not told to do something, he would find another cat to go out and hunt with. For the time being, however, the ShadowClanner was perfectly content to sit lazily in camp, doing nothing of importance for, at the very least, a few spare moments.
OOC: This post is a failure, and I apologize. I didn't know what to have him do. xD

Grayfeather; The gray tabby yawned as he stalked out of the warriors den lazily, tasting the fresh, cool air of leaf-fall. Leafbare was definitely on its way. Grayfeather trotted over to the freshkill pile. Somehow, he had woken up hungry after a good night's sleep. He stretched just before he reached the pile, giving his muscles a good pull to loosen them before turning his minty eyes onto the pile before him. Flicking his tail, Grayfeather bent down to pick up a vole before promising himself that he would help replenish the freshkill pile later. Looking around, he spotted Owlgaze, who seemed to be basking under the sun. Grayfeather made up his mind and padded over to the gray warrior. "Mind if I join you?" Grayfeather asked through his mouthful of vole. He wouldn't sit down unless Owlgaze gave his consent. Grayfeather didn't want to upset a fellow warrior over anything, no matter how small it was.

-Owlgaze-
Grayfeather's words almost sent Owlgaze flailing; the other tom had caught him zoned out, completely focused on the sensuous feeling of the warmth in his fur. Mrrowing with laughter after regaining his balance, Owlgaze mewed, "Of course, Grayfeather, although you did manage to catch me by surprise." Grayfeather was a friendly enough cat in ShadowClan, if a little serious for Owlgaze's taste.
"Did you sleep well?" The green-eyed tabby was good at making small-talk, a skill he had honed over the years to be sure that the ShadowClan deputy was comfortable with him. He hadn't, however, much talked to Grayfeather before this; in fact, he was fairly certain that this was the first time he had ever spoken to the tom in a personal manner.
Clouds went over Owlgaze's source of warmth, and he shivered briefly before the sun came back out. Perhaps he would ask Grayfeather to go hunting with him in a bit; another friend in the Clan couldn't hurt, that was for sure. Not quite yet though; for now, Owlgaze was content to simply continue talking.

Grayfeather;
Grayfeather's eyes gleamed with amusement and curiosity. He had somehow managed to make the gray warrior laugh. He couldn't really remember talking with Owlgaze, the tom was definitely older than he was, or else they might have been apprentices together. He dipped his head in thanks before dropping the vole and lowering himself to the ground and tucking his paws in under him. "I'm sorry." He apologized quietly without really meaning it. It was just something to say to the tom. He might have just interrupted some important train of thought or something that took up Owlgaze's mind. But the warrior didn't seem to be too bothered by his intrusion, so it couldn't have been anything bad.
Grayfeather took a bite out of his vole, answering once he swallowed. "A surprisingly good one." He replied. "What about you?" He asked, trying to be polite. It wasn't good to be thought ill of, even if he was eating. Maybe he should go back for a second helping... nah, it was always better to let the Clan have some too. He would only take a second helping if the freshkill pile was over flowing.

-Owlgaze-
Owlgaze sat up once more from laying down on his stomach, looking to the junior warrior. "Why, yes, I did in fact. I haven't been sleeping well lately, and last night was better for me." To be quite honest, he had not slept well since the whole incident with Featherfall so long ago; a broken heart such as his never truly healed, no matter how much he pushed the event from his mind.
Instead of thinking of his apprentice from so long ago, Owlgaze focused on Grayfeather, the cat he was addressing currently. The tom looked once towards the fresh-kill pile, and then said, "I was thinking of taking something to Snowstorm, but I decided that the lazy kitten could get it herself." Owlgaze's voice trilled with laughter; the she-cat's mind had been elsewhere lately, and to be honest he wasn't sure if Snowstorm had been eating at all. He didn't show that, in all honesty, he was quite worried for the ShadowClan deputy's well-being; she had been acting odd lately, that was for certain, but he couldn't let Grayfeather know that he thought that.

Grayfeather; Grayfeather blinked, acknowledging Owlgaze's reply. He couldn't help but feel curious as to why the older warrior was having restless nights. Maybe talking and letting feelings out would make the warrior feel better. However, he didn't point that out, for he had faith in Owlgaze that if he wanted to talk, he would confide. He was able to make such decisions for himself, maybe with a bit of prompting. Grayfeather never felt happy when a fellow Clanmate was not feeling very right. Things could go wrong like that. "That's good then." Grayfeather mewed, stretching. He had finished with his vole and now his energy was fully replenished. His ears pricked at the mention of the white Clan deputy Snowstorm. He hadn't really noticed that Owlgaze cared that much about the she-cat. He had always thought that she could take care of herself. Maybe every cat needs some time not to be so uptight and stressed out with duties. He decided. "I suppose she could." Grayfeather agreed. "After all, she did make it up to be the Clan deputy." He had faith in the ShadowClan leaders.

-Owlgaze-
Owlgaze chuckled slightly at Grayfeather's serious demeanor; the tom was known for taking rank and age more somberly than many, and Owlgaze wasn't quite so... stiff, perhaps was the word. "Yeah," the tom drawled, stretching once more. "But she wouldn't have gotten there if it wasn't for me. I mean, I love Snowstorm to death, but she was a worthless little apprentice."
His words held no hint of truth, just the lighthearted hint that Owlgaze always spoke with. Snowstorm was one of the hardest working cats that he had ever seen, and although he teased her relentlessly, he adored the cat as though she was his own sister; in fact, he had always wished she was.

Grayfeather; Grayfeather flicked his tail in response to Owlgaze's soft laughter. The gray tom was much more light-hearted compared to himself, and it seemed that he knew much more than Grayfeather himself did. "You were her mentor?" He asked, wide-eyed before he caught Owlgaze's tone. Snowstorm had become deputy as he had become a warrior--or an apprentice. Grayfeather could barely remember the finer details that he never paid attention to. He twitched his whiskers as Owlgaze let on how much he cared for her. Of course, who couldn't love the deputy, who would do anything to make sure that ShadowClan was never short of the other Clans. He himself wished ShadowClan to be the greatest Clan, but he knew that he could never be a deputy. Grayfeather's head shot up as a sudden noise caught his attention; it was just another warrior coming back with a bit of prey, reminding him of a slight stab of hunger that had been resting there ever since he had gulped down the vole. "Maybe we should hunt..." Grayfeather suggested halfheartedly, not knowing if Owlgaze would take kindly to being disturbed from his rest.

-Owlgaze-
Owlgaze had to stop his chuckle at Grayfeather thinking he was Snowstorm's mentor. "Oh no, not her mentor. She and I were apprentices together; I used to irritate her incessantly." The memories came rushing back all in a wave, and Owlgaze grew momentarily quiet. "The only apprentice I've ever had was Featherfall..." He said the words more to himself than anything, with Grayfeather's words pulling Owlgaze out of his funk.
The tom-cat sprang to his paws from where he'd been laying, quicker than a fox snatching up a kit, to use a cruel phrase. He shook his head, and looked to his gray-furred companion. "Hunting sounds lovely, Grayfeather. I'd been thinking of doing just the same thing, and I would be glad to have you accompany me." He stretched once more before yawning, ready to stalk some future fresh-kill. "It's probably a very good idea for me to get out of camp for awhile, if you can put up with me." The playful tom flashed his junior warrior a wink, ready to leave camp the moment that Grayfeather was ready.
Owlgaze turned to the camp exit; perhaps, with Snowstorm's mind so far from camp lately, Grayfeather would prove a valuable friend to have. At the very least, the more stoic tom could use a bit of lightening up.

Grayfeather;
Owlgaze and Snowstorm were apprentices together. Oh, right. So they were probably about the same age as each other; older than him, certainly and for that, he earned their respect. Grayfeather couldn't help but wonder if Owlgaze ever felt resentful that Snowstorm was the deputy instead of him. But taking a second look at the gray tom, he decided against it; Owlgaze looked too laid back compared to the Clan deputy, who always seemed on her feet and rushing everywhere.
Grayfeather's mind clicked a little as he thought of the other warrior. Featherfall was Owlgaze's apprentice; but the two didn't seem much alike. He had no chance to comment before Owlgaze jumped up, seeming eager to go hunting; which was what he said that he was thinking off. Rather pleased at that fact, Grayfeather got to his paws, a little less energetic than the older warrior, but still eager nevertheless. The more he could contribute to the Clan, the better.
Grayfeather twitched his whiskers, furrowing his brow a little, "Why would I not be able to put up with you?" He asked, puzzled. He didn't find the senior warrior annoying or anything like that. Did others think that? He for one could see nothing wrong with Owlgaze.

-Owlgaze-
Grayfeather's train of thought was correct; Snowstorm and Owlgaze had been best friends since apprenticeship, and ever since then, they had remained the same. He thanked StarClan everyday that he wasn't deputy. If Owlgaze were deputy... the tom-cat would have been scared for the fate of ShadowClan. Snowstorm was a much better candidate for the position.
The senior warrior chuckled at his cohort's words in regards to Owlgaze's turn of phrase. "Don't think too hard, dear Grayfeather. It's nothing more than a joke." Thinking for a moment, the tom tacked on the phrase, "Although, to be certain, there must be a cat or two in camp who's less than fond of lazy little me." Owlgaze yowled with laughter before watching Grayfeather get to his paws. He began moving towards the camp's exit, out into ShadowClan territory, looking back to make sure his junior warrior was close behind.

Grayfeather; "A-alright then." Grayfeather replied, feeling rather awkward while Owlgaze laughed lightheartedly. It seemed that the senior warrior could find something funny in anything. He flicked his ears and stretched, getting his muscles ready for the hunt. Whatever prey that could be caught out there would definitely be in his paws; he wasn't going to let them go that easily. "I'm definitely fine with you." He said immediately. It was natural for some cats to not get along with other cats. He saw nothing wrong with the fact, but it never hurt to be supportive. He struck up a pace, following Owlgaze towards the exit, blinking as the warrior looked back to ascertain that he hadn't changed his mind at the last minute. (( Definitely. ;D You choose the setting? ))
