Sagekit "Sweetkit, the bunny is outside the nursery. Come on," Sagekit mewed, lifting his head from his paws slightly. He licked his paw slightly, keeping his gray-green eyes on the small she-cat. He stretched once before getting into a more comfortable position, still able to watch over his sister. I just hope she doesn't run off into the woods after one someday, he mused, watching her trying to cuddle a butterfly. I wonder what cats think of a non-meat eating cat... |

"But we'll be apprenices soon and then I can chase after all the bunnies in the entire forest!" The young she-cat countered, attemping to share tounges with the brighly colored insect. It took her a bit to realize that the creature had delicate wings. What if I hurt one of it's wings from licking too hard?! At the thought, Sweetkit whimpered, apologizing to the bug as if her life depended on it. Bunnies aren't as fragile. I should remember this and be more careful!
"We should take her to Embersky, Sagekit!" The pretty kit gestured to the lop-sided butterfly, worry filling her gaze.

Sagekit Sagekit held back a chuckle. "He wouldn't help a cat unless it was needed, let alone a butterfly. It will dry out soon enough and be right again." He sat up and looked over his sister. The orange tabby looked worried for the small animal. "Look, it's already getting better, Sweetkit." He nodded towards the butterfly quickly. "There's no need to fear for it's safety." Just as he said 'safety' another kit pounced on the insect, killing it near-instantly. Oh no. |

Sweetkit
The orange tabby she-cat had just begin to relax at her brother's words when her little friend was killed. Her eyes widened and she stiffened as she watched the kit just abandon it's limp form when they got bored. Her tiny form shook with sadness as she looked at the tiny insect. After a moment, she laid down and pressed her pink nose to it's crumpled wing as the Clan would do for a lost Clanmate. A squeal of pure grief escaped her as she wailed. "I'm so sorry! Tonight, I'll stay out here with you and keep vigil!"

Sagekit Sagekit sighed and stooped beside his grieving sister. "Come on, Sweetkit." He touched the butterfly's wing with his paw, trying to take it from her without breaking it anymore- making his sister less consolable. "Look, there's another, just there." He got her to look up at another even more colorful butterfly. He gave her a quick smile. "And there's a bunny, just at the the front of the nursery. Why don't you go cuddle with it?" |

Sweetkit
The little tabby looked up, eyes still full of grief. "Okay."As she stood, still looking at the small lifeless thing at her paws, she made more promises to grieve for it later again. "You always know how to cheer me up, Sagekit," she said, voice still cracked. Pushing away the image of the murder, the young ThunderClanner turned to see where the bunny was outside the nursery. She spotted it and relaxed a bit. Taking a step towards it, Sweetkit let out a mew of greeting.
Then there was a flash of claws and the rabbit was in the grip of an apprentice. Her eyes widened. "No, don-!" But it was too late, the fluffy thing hung limp. The hunter was muttering about how dumb it most have been to wander so close to camp. Another wail escaped her and she buried her face in her paws.

Sagekit Sagekit sighed and laid down next to his sister. "It's alright. There are lots more rabbits out there, i promise." He gave her his best smile. "When we're older I'll find you the prettiest one, okay?" He wondered briefly how his sister would deal with eating from the fresh-kill pile and knew it would be bad. It's going to take an hour to get her to eat a rat, he thought, sighing. Looking at his sister's grieving stance he gave her more words of comfort. |

Sweetkit had barely heard her brother, but managed a nod. "You're so sweet, Sagekit. But what if that bunny only came to camp because of me?! Then I'd be part of why it died!" As the thought went through her mind, she broke down again. Oh StarClan, why?! With another whimper, she curled close to her brother, breathing in the relaxing scent. Images of the butterfly and rabbit dead had her shaking.

Sagekit "It might've been trying to get Embersky to give it back something. That happens all the time." He held back a yawn. "Embersky tends to be mean to apprentices, maybe it's the same for bunnies." With a long while of comforting ahead of him, Sagekit gave his sister the best smile he could muster. "And there's always the apprentices that do all those things for Embersky too." |
