Clan: RiverClan
Rank: Warrior
Breed: Tabby
Appearance:
Rosethorn's striped pelt is a beautiful copper color that shines and glimmers when the sunlight hits it. Behind her ears this fur is very short and thin, revealing the pale pinkish skin beneath. The rest of her pelt is short as well, but very thick, perfect for leafbare. Her tail is long and thin, covered by slightly longer fur than that of the rest of her body.Personality:
Rosethorn's legs are long, and they are made up of very powerful muscle. Her body also ripples with this muscle, making Rosethorn a rather frightening sight. Her ears are pointed and rather small, but still very powerful, even as she ages. Her eyes are a bright emerald green color and tend to clearly show her emotions. She is a fairly large cat, larger than most cats in her Clan. She is also very fast due to her long legs, although she is not the fastest cat in the world.
She was more magnificent in her prime, but is nowhere near ready to join the elders den. She still has plenty of moons left in her, although her bones are a little stiffer and her eyes are a little weaker than they used to be.
Rosethorn is generally thought of as a harsh cat. She is short-tempered and impatient. The she-cat is also very cynical, and her faith in StarClan isn't as strong as that of many other cats. However, she loves to be around kits and apprentices, content with their innocence and easy lives. When she gets an apprentice, however, she is often very hard on the cat that she gets as an apprentice. She does not tolerate mischief from her apprentices, and is a very efficient mentor. However, despite her strict nature it is easy to see that she has much knowledge to pass on.History:
The she-cat is actually quite insecure, even in her age. Despite this, she could never be considered soft-spoken. Underneath the way she acts on the outside, Rosethorn has always felt a need to prove herself due to her father's hard standards when she was younger. Perhaps this difficulty in her past is what makes her so distempered, but nobody is really sure.
Kithood: Rosethorn was born Rosekit to a litter of three one leafbare. She had two brothers -Thornkit and Grasskit. The kits had always tried to be happy. Their father was a warrior named Sharpclaw, and kept them in line with high, hard standards and hard punishments. He picked on little Rosekit, because he thought of her as weak and inferior to her brothers because she was female. Their mother, a cat named Brightflower, was the exact opposite. She thought of her three kits as equals and cared for them with love and grace. Due to her father, Rosethorn always felt like she got less attention than everyone else, causing her to be quiet and withdrawn during her kithood. The three kits became apprentices when they turned six moons old.Roleplay Example:
Apprenticeship: Rosekit was apprenticed to the leader of WindClan, the highest honor she could ever imagine. Thornpaw was mentored to a warrior named Darkclaw, while Grasspaw was mentored to one named Silverstorm. Their apprenticeship went normally, until Brightflower was killed in battle. With their mother dead, Grasspaw, Thornpaw, and Rosepaw neglected their studies to visit the place she was buried together. They had to sneak away from their father, and often stayed out on the moor for days at a time. Eventually, the three were brought back from their shadow of grief and began to learn again. Their mentors were just glad that they were training again, but their father was angry at what he called "Mindless annoyance and selfishness" Then, another tragedy struck. Thornpaw became ill, and died of blackcough. Rosepaw was distraught, as she had been closest to her deceased brother. She tried to hide this by training as hard as she could, although she cried herself to sleep every night. No matter how hard she worked, her father never seemed to be proud of his only daughter. Eventually, Rosepaw and Grasspaw became warriors.
Warriorhood: At the two apprentices' warrior ceremony, both Rosepaw and Grasspaw had a question for the leader. Rosepaw asked if her name could be changed to Rosethorn, in honor of the brother that had never lived to see this ceremony. Grasspaw, inspired by his sister's success, asked his name to be made Grassbright, in honor of the mother that was so unjustly taken from him. The leader of WindClan was very understanding and gave the two apprentices what they had requested. Sharpclaw nodded proudly at Grassbright and told him "Brightflower would have been proud of your thinking. It was so kind of you to do that for her." Yet he simply scowled at Rosethorn, calling her a copycat. Rosethorn and Grassbright worked together as warriors, and eventually Rosethorn got her first apprentice. Flowerpaw was a bright young she-cat who worked hard under the mentoring of Rosethorn. Rosethorn taught Flowerpaw well, and she became Flowerpetal after only four moons. Then, Grassbright was fatally injured in battle, and died. Sharpclaw was angry with Rosethorn, as if it were her fault that Thornpaw and Grassbright were dead. Rosethorn was distraught, and for a while all she did was sit by the place her brothers and mother was buried, saddened by grief. Then one day, her exasperated father came up to her and cuffed her hard on the ear. He told her that it was his family that was dead too, and to get her head back into camp. She listened to him only out of the fear that was embedded in her heart of him. When Sharpclaw died, Rosethorn was secretly glad, for she was now free of his anger. His lessons left her with a feeling of inferiority, and she always worked as hard as she could, to try and prove to herself that she was good enough.
In her warriorhood, Rosethorn also mentored two more apprentices. Both became good warriors, Blackstorm and Featherpelt.
||From a thread on this site. It's much better than the one I had here. xD.||Pictures:
It was easy to see that the tabby-striped tom didn't want to talk about Leafbare, and Rosethorn let the topic rest. As leader of RiverClan, Oakstar would be worried about all of the cats and their ability to make it through the cold season. He would be much more worried than Rosethorn herself, who tended to not get too close to her Clanmates. It wasn't that she didn't want to be friends with them, but her personality was rough at best.
The tabby she-cat nodded, instead. "He needs more training than most mentors would be expected to give him." She wasn't going to elaborate, as she certainly wasn't the type to rant. Any cat in RiverClan would say that if asked. She had a feeling that he felt the same way, anyway. She felt a kinship with Oakstar, knowing that she was one of the most trusted of his warriors. Most RiverClanners thought it highly unusual that Badgernose had been made deputy rather than the much more experienced tabby warrior. She didn't see anything in it, and was honestly glad that she didn't have the extra work. She worked hard enough at overachieving in everything she did without adding extra duties.
Ah, Raincloud. The unfortunate silver-furred she-cat had been on Rosethorn's mind as well, and she was almost glad that Oakstar had chosen to direct their conversation to her. "She hasn't spoken since her apprentice died. I don't think she's eaten or slept, either. Arrowfeather hasn't been gone for all that long, but the last time I saw her she looked so... lost. Have you seen her since it happened?" Rosethorn was sincerely worried about the Clan's medicine cat. Raincloud had always been undersized, but she looked skeletal and vacant. She was like a shell of what she had once been.
Codeword:
Rosethorn ate it because it looked at her funny.
