Appearance:
Willowstar is a cat of average build, although one wouldn't know it by looking at him. His eyes, a thick amber color, exude strength and wisdom, making him seem almost larger than he really is. His name comes from the sturdy strength his mother could sense in him even at birth. Willowstar's pelt is mostly of a russet color, except his stomach and neck which are lighter, and his breed makes him long-haired; this is especially noticeable in his tail, which is thick with fur.Personality:
Willowstar's body is covered with scars and other repercussions of being rash in his warrior days. Most aren't noticeable, and are easily covered by his pelt, but a few can be seen. The most obvious example would be the end of his tail, which is bent in such a way that it doesn't react the way the rest of the limb does.
Willowstar is practically the embodiment of the sort of leader who leads well, but says little. He commands respect without having to say a word, and comes across to most in his Clan as very dignified. Others, those who don't hold him so dear, see him as condescending.History:
Due to a horrid experience in his past, Willowstar is a very self-sacrificing cat. Instead of sit back and watch the fighting, and give the orders from behind safe lines, Willowstar would rather jump into the fray and fight himself. He is very attached to the other cats in his Clan, and does his best to keep them all out of danger.
Willowstar harbors a soft spot for the apprentices, due to the same experience aforementioned. Because of this, he often lets the younger cats get away with more, although his lenience is not too far extended - they simply get more leeway with him, because they often manage to make him feel guilty, even without meaning to.
One of Willowstar's prime flaws is that he isn't trusting of outsiders, although he'll give any number of second chances to cats who make mistakes in the Clan. He is especially skeptical of ShadowClan cats - they make him feel uneasy like none of the other Clans. Willowstar isn't overly fond of loners either.
Kithood: Willowkit's parents were both warriors, his mother being Bright-tail and his father being Firepelt. He and his three sisters, Dark-kit, Sandkit, and Mosskit, were born in late leaf-fall, and when leafbare came it took both Dark-kit and Mosskit to StarClan. Bright-tail was heartbroken by this, and as such smothered Willowkit and Sandkit with affection, not to mention the fact that she became overprotective. Due to this excess of attention, Willowkit grew impulsive, and sought out risk wherever he could. He saw it as a way to get back at his mother for over-sheltering him as a kit. In time he came to realize that Bright-tail was only trying to do what was best for him, but as soon as he became an apprentice he rebelled in every way possible.Roleplay Example:
Apprenticeship: Sandkit and Willowkit became apprentices at six moons, and were quite the same in personality at the time - stubborn, rash, etc. - and as such, the two were the best of friends during the time they were apprentices. They trained together often, and rarely did the two allow anyone else in on their practicing.
Willowpaw's mentor, Shadowpelt, was a rather lackadaisical mentor. He was very intelligent, and a brilliant teacher, but his lack of discipline didn't help Willowpaw's unruly nature any. Regardless, Willowpaw learned a lot from Shadowpelt; he learned everything except how to control his impulsivity.
Willowpaw and Sandpaw were both twelve moons when the event happened which would make Willowpaw into a solemn warrior. With permission from both of their mentors, the two apprentices wandered out into the forest, on the premise that they were going hunting. Sandpaw, however, was not paying very close attention to where she was walking and managed to stumble right upon a badger. The creature ripped Sandpaw limb from limb, all Willowpaw's efforts futile against the badger's raw power. Willowpaw kept fighting, despite the nagging voice that kept telling him his sister was dead, and he too was torn up within an inch of his life. He managed to get away, however, even though Sandpaw did not, and somehow the ThunderClan medicine cat managed to save him. Lionstar, ThunderClan's leader, congratulated him for his bravery, and Willowpaw was made a warrior - a sad retribution, Willowpaw thought, in exchange for losing his best friend.
Warriorhood: Willowpaw became Willowheart, a homage, Lionstar said, to his sturdy heart and will. Willowheart, however, was alone now; that was what he felt like, at the very least. The young warrior grew quiet, speaking to few but a young apprentice, Blackpaw, and his mother. With a few more moons, he became more talkative once again, but Willowheart was never back to the way he was before.
Soon after, Blackpaw became Blackfur, and Willowheart was given an apprentice by the name of Redpaw. Blackfur and Willowheart grew very close, often both taking Redpaw out to hunt and going on border patrols together.
Then, as if the thing was the stuff nightmares are made of, the badger that had sent Sandpaw to StarClan returned. It met a large border patrol, one composed of Redpaw, Blackfur, the ThunderClan deputy named Yellowtail, and Willowheart himself. The creature managed to kill Redpaw almost instantly, and Redpaw's brief helpless yelps attracted Bright-tail, who was out hunting. All four remaining cats fought valiantly, but the badger killed Blackfur, Yellowtail, and Bright-tail. The loss of Redpaw especially affected Willowheart, and as such he finds it difficult to ever feel anything but guilt when looking at any of the apprentices at camp.
This time, however, Willowheart knew better than to fight the badger on his own. He fled back to the ThunderClan camp the moment he could, and his fear of badgers was forever sealed. In Yellowtail's absence, Willowheart was made deputy. His experiences with the badger had forever changed him.
Deputyship: Lionstar was growing old, very old. The remainder of his leadership was uneventful, and Lionstar's last life was snatched from him by a stray fox a few moons after Willowheart was made deputy. To begin with, many were skeptical of Willowheart's fast ascension to leadership; however, soon it was clear that his motives were purely honest and without corruption.
Leadership: Willowheart traveled to the Moonpool and became Willowstar. He has divulged to none his experience there, though he and his medicine cat were brought much closer by the journey.
"Willowheart! Willowheart, are we going hunting?" Redpaw's voice disturbed Willowheart's peace, although he didn't mind at all. He turned to his apprentice, and nodded.Pictures: Codeword:
"Let's get Blackfur." Redpaw nodded at Willowheart's words, and darted off around the camp in search of Willowheart's good friend. The young apprentice amused the warrior greatly, and Redpaw's hyperactivity always managed to bring a smile to the solemn cat's face. Redpaw returned with Blackfur, and the three entered the forest together in search of freshkill for the Clan.
Redpaw darted ahead of the warriors, eager to begin, and Blackfur sprinted after him, batting his head quickly and reprimanding him for taking off. Willowheart swiftly caught up with the two, and with the two warriors' help, Redpaw had soon caught a small shrew.
I don't need it, do I?
