Rank: Medicine Cat
Breed: Tabby / Russian Blue mix
Appearance:
Raincloud is a dainty-looking, undersized cat. She is about the size of a brand-new apprentice, and when she was younger she was constantly teased about it. Despite her size, however, the she-cat is rarely confused with a kit. Her short, thin pelt is much rougher than kit fur, and it clings to her slender frame. Her pelt is so thin that she rarely leaves her den during leaf-fall and leafbare, only daring to brace the cold when she is really needed. She swims often, which has caused her pelt to adapt and easily repel water.Personality:
In color, her fur is a pale silvery-grey, taking on a blue tint depending on where the light hits it. Along her back and her flank her fur is dotted with darker grey flecks. At some points, these flecks seem to blend together into stripes, although their pattern is far too irregular for her to be called a tabby. She also lacks the distictive tabby "m" marking on her forehead. Her two front paws are different colors, the right being a snowy white and the left being a dark grey like her markings.
Her eyes are easily her most noticeable feature. They are pale in color, yet still seem bright. Their icy blue color has somewhat of a green tinge to it, and an almond shape rather than the usual round. She has long, pointed ears that are velvety to the touch and sensitive, pearly-white whiskers. Overall, Raincloud's appearence makes her an easy cat to pick out of a crowd, despite her size.
Raincloud likes to think about things for a long time before she comments on them. She says little, but whenever she does speak, her words are something to take notice of. She is very patient and forgiving, always giving another cat the benefit of the doubt. She likes to spend time with kits and elders, and is well-known among the four Clans for her gentle nature. Perhaps she is known best, however, for her infinite patience.History:
She walks so closely with StarClan that their steps seem intertwined, and it sometimes seems as is StarClan are using her as their messanger. In her opinion, StarClan has a reason for everything. She tries not to fight them, even when their actions seem wrong.
She loves to swim and spend time in the water, and sometimes fish will come right up and play with her. She can usually be found trying to keep her hyperactive sister Silverstreak from "destroying the world", and is thought of as "boring" by said sister. When she isn't with Silverstreak, Raincloud is usually sorting her herbs. Sorting her herbs is both a calming technique and a coping mechanism for her.
A gentle medicine cat is she, as she hates bloodshed and killing, and refuses to take part in battles.
For some reason or another, although few cats say it out loud, most of RiverClan knows that Raincloud is slowly losing her mind. Usually she seems like the same Raincloud she's always been. Sometimes she seems to go somewhere else, but she doesn't remember. Sometimes she will be still for long periods of time, stopping suddenly in a conversation only to pick up here she left off hours later.
She thinks she can fix herself, or perhaps she's just in denial. Luckily for RiverClan, however, she isn't losing her knowledge of herbs. She's still the same medicine cat on the inside.
Kithood: Rainkit, Sootkit, and Silverkit were born to loving parents Greyfur and Moonstream. Their first moons were calm ones, happy ones. The kits' respective personalities began to show quickly. Rainkit, the runt, was the quiet one, Silverkit was the loud one, and Sootkit, the oldest, was the bossy one.Roleplay Example:
When the kits were three moons old, a rogue cat broke into RiverClan's camp and stole the three of them. The Clan cats chased the rogue, but a life on the run had made him faster and stronger than they were. The rogue killed Sootkit quickly and was about to kill the two female kits when Greyfur tore out of the bushes and attacked him. Greyfur had run as fast as he could, nearly blinded by fear and rage.
As Rainkit and Silverkit escaped into the bush, their father killed the rogue. He died not long after from the injuries he had received in the battle, but all that mattered to him was that he had been able to save two of his precious kits. Rainkit was sad when she learned this, and despite her young age she felt guilty. This was when she truly realized that she wanted to become a medicine cat. She felt that if she had known the proper herbs, she could have helped Lightfeather(the medicine cat) and her father would have lived.
Apprenticeship: Rainkit soon became Rainpaw, and was apprenticed under Lightfeather. The young medicine cat was eager to have her first apprentice. Lightfeather was a good mentor, and she and Rainpaw grew close. Rainpaw and her sister, Silverpaw, were always together. When Rainpaw had to go through basic battle training, Silverpaw was there to help. When Silverpaw would injure herself through her over-eager tendencies, Rainpaw would heal her and gently chide her.
Rainpaw was intelligent and proved to be a fast learner, easily remembering the different herbs and mixtures she was shown by her mentor. She worked as hard as she could, to try and make sure no other cat died the way her father had. Her hard work and determination made her a favorite among the other Clans as well as her own.
She lost her first patient when she was ten moons old. The tom-kit had been born sickly, but every day Rainpaw would give him herbs and tell him stories. She refused to give up on little Badgerkit, but it was all in vain. He died at only three moons of age. He just stopped breathing.
Rainpaw was crushed, and she leaned heavily on the support of her mentor and her sister. She had known that sometimes she would lose patients, but she hadn't expected that it would hurt so much. Still she pressed on, her infinite patience and calm nature helping to get her through such a trying time.
Approximately eight moons after she became an apprentice, a group of badgers attacked RiverClan's camp. Along with the loss of many warriors, Rainpaw's beloved Lightfeather was killed in the attack.
Medicine Cat: Rainpaw found it hard to realize her mentor was dead, and even harder to realize the responsiblility she now had as RiverClan's full-time medicine cat. She hadn't had a chance to go with Lightfeather to get her name before her mentor had died, but not long after her mentor's passing Rainpaw went to the Moonpool on her own. She closed her eyes and bent down to the Moonpool, not sure what to expect.
Starry cats surrounded her, enveloping the tiny feline in their sweet scent. "Breathe, Rainpaw," Lightfeather had whispered, nuzzling her gently. Lightfeather held her ceremony there in StarClan, with her ancestors surrounding her. She left the Moonpool as Raincloud, and as she made the journey back to RiverClan she realized that she was at peace.
That was when she was fifteen moons old. She now receives regular dreams from StarClan, instead of the once every so often ones she had gotten when she had been an apprentice. Raincloud is very proud that her sister is Silverstreak, and also is proud that she became the medicine cat of RiverClan. Her goal is to live up to the vow that she made Lightfeather, to be the best medicine cat that she can for RiverClan.
The gentle patter of rain was the only sound that could be heard in the forest. A tiny cat, hardly larger than a kitten, slipped through the bushes unseen and unheard. The feline batted at the swollen river with one paw as she reached its bank. She was slender, with short, soft fur. Her fur seemed to glint silver off of the river, with a few darker spots that could barely be seen. She moved lightly, jumping on to a fallen tree branch to get across. When her paws touched the bank on the other side she let out a purr of satisfaction. She padded lightly away from the river, off towards the WindClan border.Pictures:
When the cat reached the border she sniffed the air curiously. Raincloud, for that was who the cat was, bent her head and tore some peculiar berries from a bush. Juniper, just what I need. she thought. She swished her tail happily and trotted back toward the river. On her way she looked around quickly, as if she was making sure no cat was watching her, and took off into a steady run, back towards the swollen river she had crossed to get here.
By now the river had expanded even more, and the branch she had used to cross earlier was covered by the water. The tiny she-cat looked around for another branch, but couldn't find one. Then she had an idea. The twoleg bridge! The bridge was never flooded, and Raincloud had a feeling it would lead her back to camp. She trotted away at a slower pace until she reached the twoleg bridge. The water came up to her belly, but it was a way to get across without being swept away. As the tiny medicine cat crossed, she couldn't help but feel frustrated with all of the rain. this was the fifth day of rain, and if it didn't stop soon, their camp would be flooded. They had already needed to move the nursery and apprentices dens because they were low-lying enough to be flooded by the rain. Even she was starting to notice slight flooding in her den, and it was one of the higher ones.
